I am interested in the study of theology for many reasons. I believe that it incorporates so much that is fundamental to humanity from the ethical and moral arguments to the historical and traditional teachings that form the basis of religions. This is why I have chosen to develop my interest further and study theology at university.
I enjoy the challenge of weekly essays in the 6th Form. I want to apply to universities that seek high achievers because I am motivated and driven to achieve high standards. Theology has been a subject that I have wanted to research and understand more about for some time. I have actively participated in the thought provoking debates that have arisen out of my Religious Studies courses. In class discussions I relish the opportunity of being able to express my opinion and challenge ideologies. Ultimately, I am fascinated in why people believe in their God, religious icons and leaders and what drives people towards religion.
I am taking part in the forthcoming 6th Form Revue at Christmas. It is important to me to be a part of this because I believe that it moulds the 6th Form together and helps provide a balance between work and play. I shall be singing in front of the school because I have always been actively involved in singing. I have appeared in local pantomimes and musical productions since the age of four. I have entered Eisteddfoddi where I have sang as a soloist and recited in both Welsh and English. I am fortunate to have enjoyed successes at the local Eisteddfod where I have been presented with a range of cups and awards for my performances. It is important to me to play a part in keeping the Welsh language alive. I am attracted to the prospect of choral singing at university and look forward to joining a choir.
My interest in history has led me to take part in a local archaelogical dig this summer where I learnt about the kind of lives that people lived in past generations. The experience taught me about the daily hardship that people endured and the relative simplicity of their lives. I believe that history and theology are inextricably linked and that the study of theology must coexist with an inherent love of history in order for it to be fully appreciated.

When I was eight years old my life took a turn when, in the class where I was studying appeared a sport teacher who was looking for girls to play in a softball team. I was one of girls selected and I accepted, because there was something new and I took into consideration the possibility of meeting new people and making a lot of friends. The problem was that I didn’t ask for my parents’ permission when I accepted to practice softball, so they prohibited me to join in the training session. In order to make them, approve my softball training I had to work hard to prove that I could cope with school and sport, and did both very well. In our country there are only six softball teams and we had the opportunity to take part in the European Championship held in Italy. I consider that it was one of the most interesting experience in my life. Even if I was only eleven years old that championship had a great impact on me. I was determined to turn my hobby into a career and had the desire to study it in the UK, the motherland of this sport.
It’s been ten years since I started playing softball. Now it is part of my life because it allowed me to mature and change my view on life. During these years when I played in different championships I have gained the opportunity to meet different types of human characters and I learned how to socialize with a variety of people. But some of them made me understand sports in a different way. Michael A. McCabe taught me that sport doesn’t mean only physical effort, it also means dedication, passion, intelligence, the ability to create strategy and think quickly. A special moment was this year at The Romanian Championship when I had the honor to represent my school team as a captain. I had the responsibility to make sure that my team was always focused on the game and every girl knew her position on the field. Being the captain helped me improve my ability to reduce tensions between individuals, create coalitions and encourage better performance. This year I also applied for a referee course at national level and I would like to go further to an international level.
Being a sport manager doesn’t mean only to be a person who knows how to work with the team’s budgets. The manager has to know how to work with individuals to make them part of the team, how to anticipate what the needs of the team are. In addition, the manager should always motivate the team and encourage them to believe in their strengths even in the moments when everything seems lost. In my opinion, I am good at doing this because I am confident in my abilities to communicate with people, to express my ideas in a convincing way. More than once did I prove that I was fully capable of making the best decisions for my team and ensured that they had the best opportunities to continue the game. In all these years I have had the chance to understand this sport from different perspectives (as a simple player, as the captain of the team and as a trainer assistant, absorbing all the details that refer to strategy and technique). I was also aware of the importance to create special bonds between players and trainers.
Last summer I helped my coach with training the junior team which was an important chance for my work experience. Those three months when I worked with little girls helped me develop my abilities in communication with children. The interesting part was that when I created the little team because I had to talk with the girls’ parents and convince them based on my experience, gained all over these years , to let their children play this sport.. What really helped me to be open and listen to their fears, and then bring strong arguments was my experience gained during the summer job when I worked in public relation and I had to speak with people and train my communication skills.
Sport is not the only thing I’m interested in. I like literature, old music and when I have time cooking. I usually spend my time with activities meant to help develop my talents and my potential.
During these years I proved that I am serious, hard working, energetic and also eager to accept any challenge, always trying to do new things. I have learned even that it is important to accept a failure as the best way to learn and get better. I have never liked to waste my time so I enjoyed to get involved in school programs and community service. Being a senior, this year I helped my schoolmates in organizing Prom and we made it be a real success. I discovered in this way that I have good organizing abilities and I really felt proud of what I have achieved. I learned how to make influential people believe in my ideas and support me. Two years ago I got involved in a charity program where we helped the abandoned people. That experience was sad and emotional, but made me appreciate more my family and my friends.
Working with children probably will be a field that will make me feel accomplished but what I really would like to do is to work with big softball teams to manage them, to organize various sports events like international tournaments for softball, baseball, football, hockey, golf, and several other games. I have never thought I would ever find a place where I can study sports management but University ….…….. represents for me the place where I can develop my abilities in managing teams organizing sports events and persuading people from everywhere how important sport is in our lives. Besides softball is not so popular in Romania and that is why I would like to study Sports Management and Marketing to opportunities to young people in my country to play it.

MEANING
The meaning of the proverb ‘prevention is better than cure’ is that it is much more easy to prevent a problem from happening than to solve the problem after it has already happened.
Similarly, it is much more easy to get things right at the first place than to get repaired the damaged ones. The cost of preventive maintenance is much lower that the cost of repairing the damaged ones.
Importance of this proverb in our daily lives:
1. We can prevent illness by maintaining healthy habits and eating healthy foods. It is better to follow the basic rules of health and hygiene and prevent diseases.
2. We can buy movie tickets in advance to avoid last moment harassment.
3. While planning for holidays, we can plan our trip properly so that smooth travel is ensured.
4. We can prevent stomach upset by eating fibrous food.
5. We can prepare well for our exams so that we can remain calm on the day of our examination.
6. We can prevent old age worries by saving some money for the future.
7. We can love our family members to avoid difficult relationships.

形容詞 FEWER 是 FEW 的比較級，LESS 是 LITTLE 的比較級。FEWER 後面接複數名詞；LESS 後面接不可數名詞。

We usually use less with uncountable nouns. We use fewer with plural nouns:
I do less work at weekends than I used to.
Better cycle routes would mean fewer cars and fewer accidents.
Fewer people than we expected attended the party.
出席宴會的人比我們預期的少。
people 是複數名詞。
Should you wash your dishes by hand, or does the dishwasher use less water?
你應該用手洗碗盤，還是用洗碗機會使用較少的水？
water 是不可數名詞。
Fewer 和 Less 分別為 few 和 little 的比較級，few 後接複數可數名詞，little 後接不可數名詞。但 few 跟 a few 的用法並不相同，few 意為「(少之又少) 幾乎沒有」，表否定，而 a few 意為「一些」，表肯定。Little 和 a little 的用法亦有如此的差異，little 意為「(少之又少) 幾乎沒有」，表否定，而 a little 意為「一些」，表肯定。例如：

I drank less coffee than she did. (我喝的咖啡比她少)
Eat less or you’re getting fatter and fatter. (吃少點，否則你會越來越胖) － 句中的 less 為副詞用法。
Fewer 欠缺的副詞用法，正是它經常被用錯的癥結所在，尤其是在 fewer than 的比較句型中。在「形容詞/副詞比較級 + than」的句型中，若主動詞為 BE 動詞，須使用形容詞比較級 + than，若主動詞為普通動詞，則須使用副詞比較級 + than。由於 fewer 僅能用作形容詞，不能當副詞用，因此它不是位在 BE 動詞或連綴動詞之後，就是位在名詞之前。例如：
Cars made in Korea are fewer than those made in Japan. (韓國車比日本車少)
He worked fewer hours than I did. (他的工作時數比我少)
所以，問題中的句子只能使用 less than，不可使用 fewer than，因為 less 是副詞，而 fewer 是形容詞：

When we use fewer or less before articles (a/an, the), demonstratives (this, that), possessives (my, your) or pronouns (him, them), we need to use of. We use less of with singular nouns and fewer of with plural nouns:
It was funny to begin with, but as time went on, it became less of a joke.
In ten years’ time, more and more people will be demanding information twenty-four hours a day, from all parts of the world. Fewer of them will be getting that information from newspapers which arrive hours after the news has occurred.
The basic rule for precise use of “less” and “fewer” is simple (though we slip often). Use “fewer” with countable, individual things, and “less” with uncountable amounts, volumes, etc. So: “I should drink less coffee,” but “I should eat fewer doughnuts.”
But it’s not as simple as plural (fewer) vs. singular (less). Sometimes “less” is correct even with a plural noun. The Times’s stylebook says this:
Also use less with a number that describes a quantity considered as a single bulk amount: The police recovered less than $1,500; It happened less than five years ago; The recipe calls for less than two cups of sugar.

Doing something over and over again is the only way to learn to do it well.
If you’re an athlete, you know all about sports practices. If you’re a musician, you know all about practicing with your instrument. If you have a math class, you know all about practicing your basic math facts.
You may have even heard a popular saying that many people use often: “Practice makes perfect!” But have you ever wondered whether that’s really true? Does practice really…eventually…make perfect? Always?
Sometimes practice does make perfect. Take a math test, for example. If you know you’re going to have a math test on your multiplication facts in a week, you can practice those facts over and over again before the test. If you get a 100% on your test, that’s perfect and you can safely say the practice helped get you there.
In other areas of life, though, practice doesn’t always make perfect. That doesn’t mean that practice doesn’t help. Sometimes it just means that there’s no such thing as “perfect” in a certain area.
EXAMPLE
Jack: “How come you’re so good at peeling potatoes?"
Mat: “I did it a lot in the army, and practice makes perfect."

Today within our society, the wide sport sector is expanding and developing and is becoming more influential in our lives. This increase in popularity and accessibility has had an affect on my interest and involvement in this subject and the different aspects involved in sport. My awareness has developed -not just in the practical aspects of sport- but the way in which it
is analysed through newspapers and the media and to a certain extent the business side of it.
I have been drawn in by sport from a young age and my attraction has amplified and my taking part in sporting activity increased. For many years, I have played football week by week and have constructed an understanding of the sport. My knowledge of the professional game has been altered through resources and articles in newspapers and reading and developing opinions based
on the writing in front of me. Accomplishment in my exams also encouraged me to further widen my options in a sporting career and showed me that success can be achieved through sheer hard work and perseverance.
Towards the end of my fourth year at High School I attended work experience at a football coaching establishment. This gave me an insight into how organisations, such as coaching, are run and maintained. I worked on administrative tasks and practical aspects of coaching where I gained valuable knowledge and experience. I therefore became further motivated to follow my passion and become involved in what I read about and watch in the media.
I have participated in many activities at School both sporting and non-sporting which have helped improve my listening and communication skills. I am currently in the Events Committee at my School, which involves many responsibilities in planning and implementing new ideas for seasonal and formal occasions. It also requires me to be open to others’ opinions and include my own input, to reach a conclusion that will benefit for the entire year group. Throughout my High School years, I have also shown a keen interest in specific curricular activities. History has always caught my attention, as I enjoy developing my knowledge in ancient and modern historical events, ranging from the Roman Empire, to the “Great War".
Outside of school, I am frequently occupied working at a large retail store. Here, I have a number of daily duties in which I have to fulfil. I have widened my knowledge of marketing and advertising through observing my superiors in the work place and the various techniques used to attract customers. Involvement with colleagues has allowed me to work in a group and
communicate effectively to complete a task. I enjoy indulging in many sporting activity, mainly tennis and football and like to keep up-to-date on sporting news by observing the events taken place on television. I have recently been intrigued by the way in which sport is described and reported in newspapers and have now shown a keen interest in different techniques used in articles and accounts. Reading sporting articles has become a hobby for me and the history of sport over the years has also appealed to me, as it is something I plan on learning about in further education.
The subjects I have previously studied and are currently studying at school have given me many options in a variety of career choice. My exam results have also given me hope to pursue a career in topics that I enjoy greatly, such as history and journalism. Although, my long-time enjoyment in sport and sporting activity has been challenging and satisfying, as I hope my future career will replicate.

Throughout my life, I have always enjoyed engaging in Physical Education and would like to pursue my career in the field of sports science. I have always had a keen interest and have felt very passionately when it comes to the practical and theoretical work concerning Physical Education. I am very aware of the importance of exercise and the related issues of diet and fitness on the prevention of injury in the human body.
I am currently studying A2 Physical Education, A2 Psychology, and AS Biology. These subjects have appealed to me because of the variety of topics that they covered. The aspects of Biology I find particularly interesting are about health and nutrition and how the body is affected by exercise and nutrition. In Psychology, I am very interested in what makes people unique and how the psychological or mental conscience could affect an individuals thinking. During my time studying Physical Education, I have undertaken research assignments in a variety of topics such as motivation, reinforcement, and local provisions. Completing these assignments has always been a challenge and it gives me a chance to work hard and improve my knowledge in Physical Education.
I have been awarded my ‘Community Sports Leadership Award (CSLA)’. As part of this course I was required to complete a number of hours of voluntary work putting my skills into practice. My voluntary work included helping to organise an indoor sports competition, taking P.E lessons for a primary school, and assisting with badminton sessions at my local leisure centre. I have also achieved a ‘First Aid’ qualification which has enabled me to acquire the knowledge when dealing with dangerous or life threatening injuries. I am now fully qualified to work with children of all ages participating in sporting activities.
I am an active person with a wide variety of interest outside college.
I have a keen interest in sports and have represented my school and college cricket teams as well as representing my local club. Other sporting interests include playing Badminton, Squash, Football, Hockey, and Volleyball. I enjoy going to the gym, and like to travel around the U.K during my holidays.
Studying Sports Science will require commitment and hard work, and I am determined to use my time and dedication in this field as I hope to achieve my career aspirations by studying sports science, which would hopefully lead me to the direction of becoming a successful sports therapist.
