MEANING
Time flies (when you’re having fun). Time passes quickly, as in It’s midnight already? Time flies when you’re having fun, or I guess it’s ten years since I last saw you—how time flies. This idiom was first recorded about 1800 but Shakespeare used a similar phrase, “the swiftest hours, as they flew,” as did Alexander Pope, “swift fly the years.”
Time flies when you tie a clock to a bird, time flies when you throw a clock across the room and time also flies if you drop it out of an airplane. Time also flies when you are having fun, learning something interesting and those precious moments you have with loved ones. I believe time flies in so many ways that we need to cherish every second we spend with friends, boyfriends, girlfriends, aunts, uncles, cousins grandmas, grandpas, new and old teammates/classmates and life in general. Time is both a blessing and a curse, a blessing in the good times, and a curse when we step into the unknown.
Sometimes you never know what you got until it is gone. Hold on to the people closest to you closer because you never know what can happen in the next few seconds, minutes, or hours. Appreciate the small things people do for you, whether it is a hug, a friendly hello, or just a smile. Every little bit of kindness can go mile. You never know what fate has in store for you, and you never know what you have got until it is gone.

EXAMPLE
“I didn’t really think it was so late when the party ended. Doesn’t time fly? Time simply flew while the old friends exchanged news."
